LAND DONATION: Land owners are in a unique position to
contribute to the Land Trust’s and the State’s goals of preserving
open space. Land can be donated through numerous ways,
including a fee simple transaction, donating or selling
development rights, or placing conservation easements on the
property. In many cases property owners may receive substantial
tax benefits for such donations.
VOLUNTEER/STEWARDSHIP: The Land Trust is always seeking
volunteers to assist in maintaining and clearing trails and keeping
the open space of East Greenwich clean for wildlife and for the
enjoyment of community residents. Stewardship of the Town’s
open space and trails also means using them responsibly and
properly disposing of your waste. Remember — every day is Earth
ESTATE PLANNING: A simple will can cause problems for heirs,
including wasting tens of thousands of dollars in potential tax
savings and leaving a difficult tax planning dilemma. There are
estate planning tools available that protect land, lower estate tax
liability and/or provide funds for paying taxes. Good estate
planning could save you money now and save your heirs money
SPONSORSHIP: The Land Trust seeks to accomplish this by
preserving suitable open spaces for recreation, forestry, and
wildlife, and by promoting responsible development of real estate
and sound conservation practices, providing enjoyment to East
Greenwich residents for generations to come. We currently
oversee over 300 acres of property within the community,
including our most popular- the Briggs-Boesch Farm on South Road.
These properties provide opportunities for passive recreation and
general enjoyment of the natural environment by making trails
accessible to the public.
